Kia’s latest-generation Soul gets electrified for 2020, and in doing so the Korean automaker boots its funky urban cube right to the forefront of “affordable” fully-electric vehicles. Issue: On certain electric vehicles, the electric power control unit (EPCU) may not be sealed correctly. As a result, coolant could leak inside the EPCU and onto the circuit board. If this happens, the vehicle could suddenly lose power to the wheels. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of power to the wheels may increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Action: Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the EPCU for internal coolant leaks. If a leak is detected, the dealer will replace the EPCU.
